Why Should I Opt For Stump Grinding vs Leaving The Stump?
Appearance – The main reason most people opt for stump grinding is to create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Curb appeal is typically one of the biggest concerns for homeowners. Improving the look of your home means increasing the value of your home.
Maintenance – If you do not remove the stump by grinding, you are left with not only an eye sore but you still have to mow and weed whip around it. Removing unwanted stumps can make more room for a garden, a patio area or even that new landscaping that you’ve wanted for so long.
Damaging – Disregarding the need for a stump grind will not only make your yard difficult to look at, it can also create a hazardous environment when trying to maintain your property. Try mowing over a stump with your lawn mower. Blade replacements are not cheap. And that is just the result of minimal damage. If you bend your mower deck, break the spindles, or damage any other lawn mower parts then you run the risk of having to replace the whole lawn mower.
Liability – Neglected stumps also increase the probability of someone being injured on your property. This concern is particularly important to consider if you have children or seniors in the area. If a child or a neighbor trips over the stump in your yard, you could be liable for their injuries as the property owner. It’s better to eliminate any possibilities of injury and damages by just taking care of the problem before it becomes a problem.
Pests – After removing a tree, the stump left in your yard begins a very slow decomposition process. Once the stump starts decaying, the perfect habitat for pests is created. Stumps in close proximity of structures will create a high-risk environment for infestation. Stumps can house a number of pests but just to name a few, you could encounter, termites, carpenter ants, woodborers, and beetles. Stump grinding useful is to prevent any potential pest damages to your home and structures.
Infestation – Any professional arborist will tell you to not let your stump rot away and decompose itself. When pests become an issue you not only run the risk of damaging your home but you also are allowing the pests to spread to other plants and trees in your yard. This will create an overall infestation. Again, it’s better to eliminate any possibility of damages by just taking care of the problem before it becomes a bigger problem.
